Phone data plans for a non-Japanese resident

I have researched and written down about phone plans for a non-Japanese resident.

Note: In Japan, you must be a Japanese resident to get a Japanese phone number. Therefore, you can only get a data only plans as a non-Japanese resident.

• Only eSIM is available.
• If there is no purchase of paid Topping for more than 180 days, the service may be suspended or the contract terminated. (the cheapest plan that you can buy to avoid suspension: 250yen)
• When 0 yen 0 GB, the maximum sending/receiving speed is 128 kbps. In case of Data Only, the first purchase of Topping is required at the time of contract.
• Things you need to sign up:
  • A separate line capable of making voice calls and receiving SMS is required.
    • If you have someone Japanese who can help you, it won’t be a problem

• Only eSIM is available.
• Japan SIM account is automatically terminated 90 days after eSIM activation.
• Without active data toppings, maximum data speed will be limited to 128 kbps.
• Things you need to sign up:
  • Ensure your overseas phone number can receive an SMS verification in Japan
  • Credit card
